About the Rhodesian Brushstroke
Look at the print and you see a sandy-khaki base carrying the olive-green and rusty red-brown brushstrokes, crossed by thin pale streaks. It’s the green that sits over the brown rather than the other way round, and both colours stay separate from the light field instead of blending into it — that layering is what gives Brushstroke its hand-rendered look.
It’s a brushstroke-type camouflage, developed for the Southern African bushveld and issued to the Rhodesian Security Forces from 1965 until it was replaced by a vertical lizard stripe in 1980. The thin streaks are what set it apart: they break across the larger olive and brown shapes, giving the print a layered, brush-painted look rather than the small blobs of a woodland pattern or the blocky pixels of a digital one.
The v2 rendition on this T-shirt
The v2 is one of the renditions in MegaCamo’s Rhodesian Brushstroke series. It keeps the classic green, rust and sand colourway and prints across the whole garment, so the brushstrokes stay at their original scale rather than shrinking into a small chest panel. On 190GSM cotton the contrast reads cleanly — the olive and rust sit clearly against the sand base, and the fine streaks stay sharp on the flat fabric.
Why own this T-shirt?
A lot of camo is anonymous. This one you can name. If you’re drawn to it because it’s a historical pattern you can trace to a force and a decade, the pull is real — and its streaked, almost brush-drawn character is genuinely different from the woodland and digital camos that fill most streetwear.
If you’re interested in the brushstroke family — the streak-based patterns that sit alongside lizard and other brushstroke designs — this is another rendition of it in the MegaCamo catalogue. It is also far removed from the generic camo prints that fill most clothing racks, so it’s a way to wear a bush-war-era pattern as a normal tee rather than as surplus kit. The 190GSM cotton keeps it an easy everyday layer.
