About the Soviet KLMK Berezhka camouflage

KLMK stands for Kamuflirovannyi Letnii Maskirovochnyi Kombinezon, the “camouflaged summer disguise coverall” the Soviet Union developed in 1968. First issued to KGB border guards and later carried by airborne troops and many other units, it was a one-piece hooded coverall photographed widely during the Soviet-Afghan War. The pattern places light, angular, toothed leaf spots on a darker olive-green base — the opposite arrangement from most Western camouflage, and the reason the family is so easy to spot.

The Silver Leaf colourway

This is the grey-silver variant of the family: an olive-green to forest-green field covered with whitish, silver-grey birch-like shapes that take on a soft metallic cast as the light moves. It is the version that most people picture when they hear “Soviet leaf camouflage”.
