Why this gaiter
Tiger stripe is the camouflage of the Vietnam War. Developed for close-range jungle warfare by the South Vietnamese armed forces and picked up by US Special Forces in 1962-63, it layers thin black and olive stripes over a tan-green base to break up a shape in dense foliage. It became so tied to that conflict that the pattern is now a shorthand for the era itself.
The pattern up close
Up close you see the fine, wavy stripes — black and dark green over a lighter tan — running the length of the fabric. On a neck gaiter the pattern wraps around you, so the stripes curve naturally with the cloth instead of sitting flat.
The gaiter
- 95% polyester, 5% elastane, four-way stretch.
- Fabric weight 210 g/m², breathable and reusable.
- Printed on one side; reverse side is left blank.
- One size.
- Wash and reuse; not a medical device (addressed below).
Wear it as a neck warmer, a face shield, a headband, a bandana or a wristband — it is a small, practical way to carry the pattern.
