The tiger stripe is a family of jungle camouflage developed by South Vietnamese forces for close-range jungle combat, adopted by US Special Forces in Vietnam from late 1962 to early 1963. The honest reason is that this is a real, traceable pattern with a specific mid-century history, printed here on a surface that shows it off. The desaturated tones keep the pattern subtle, and the feather-edged bands stay crisp across a full-length garment like this.
