About the pattern

The German Bundesgrenzschutz (BGS) revived the wartime German camouflage tradition in the 1950s, using variations of the Wehrmacht Splittermuster (splinter pattern) that Camopedia distinguishes from the wartime original. This v2 render is a warmer, greener take on that BGS splitter design — the same angular splintered shapes and fine rain streaks, but with a warmer tan ground and more olive-green and maroon contrast than the pale v1. It is the more vivid sibling of the same pattern family.

This BGS v2 colourway

The ground is a warm tan, and over it sit angular, splintered shapes in an olive-green and a maroon or dusty red-brown, overlaid with fine vertical rain streaks and a few pale accents. The splinters are sharp and fragmented, and the palette here is warmer and more contrast-y than v1 — the olive and maroon stand out more strongly against the tan. The fine rain streaks still cut thinly across the surface. The overall cast is warm and earthy, with a clearer, more readable contrast than the muted v1.

How it reads on the garment

Because the palette is warmer and the contrast clearer, this pattern prints with a slightly more vivid feel than v1. On the body the warm tan ground sits behind the olive and maroon splinters, giving the surface a fragmented, streaky texture with a clear, readable pattern. It reads as a warm, characterful splinter camo that is still easy to wear. The warm ground sits well against the light hood lining and collar, keeping the neckline tidy.
