Pattern: German BGS Camouflage
The Bundesgrenzschutz splitter — layered green, maroon and tan splinter shapes with fine rain streaks on a pale grey-green ground.
About the pattern
The German Bundesgrenzschutz (BGS) was the federal border guard, and in the 1950s it revived the wartime German camouflage tradition. Camopedia records that the BGS used variations of the Wehrmacht Splittermuster (splinter pattern) in the period after the war, with the design distinguished from the wartime original. This render is a BGS-associated splitter camouflage — the same angular splintered shapes and fine rain streaks as the wartime pattern, but recast in a layered green, maroon and tan palette on a pale grey-green field.
This BGS colourway
The ground is a pale grey-green, and over it sit angular, splintered shapes in an olive-green, a maroon or dusty red-brown and a muted tan, overlaid with fine vertical rain streaks. The splinters are sharp and fragmented, with straight edges and angular corners, and the layers overlap. The palette is muted and soft — pale grey-green, olive, maroon and tan — so the pattern reads as subtle and layered. The fine rain streaks cut thinly across the surface, adding a wet, streaky texture.
How it reads on the garment
Because the palette is muted and the shapes are angular, this pattern prints with a soft, layered feel rather than a bold one. On the body the pale grey-green ground sits behind the olive, maroon and tan splinters, giving the surface a fragmented, streaky texture. It reads as a gentle, muted splinter camo, easy on the eye and easy to wear. The pale ground blends cleanly into the light hood lining and collar, keeping the neckline tidy.
Why own it
If you like the German splitter family but want a softer, more muted version than the classic green-and-brown, this BGS colourway is a strong pick. It carries the documented lineage of the BGS and the German post-war splitter tradition, so it appeals to collectors of German camouflage. And its muted grey-green, olive and maroon palette is approachable, pairing naturally with olive, grey, denim, tan and maroon. It is a soft, characterful camo.

Each hooded tee is printed and sewn to order rather than stored in a warehouse, so the pattern is freshly applied for you. Production and fulfilment take about 4–7 days before your order is handed to shipping; courier delivery time then depends on your destination. Please double-check the size chart before ordering — because each item is made for you, returns are easier to avoid by choosing the right size up front. If a print runs slightly differently from what you see on screen, that is the nature of made-to-order garment printing.
Disclosure
This is a reproduction / military-inspired item, not an issued uniform, and the garment itself is a modern printed piece for everyday wear. The BGS naming comes from documented pattern history, but this is not official issue equipment.
