About the pattern

Erbsenmuster, or “pea dot”, is a German World War Two camouflage pattern introduced in 1944, built from a base of irregular patches overlaid with a dense field of small rounded dots — the “peas”. The classic version is dark and richly dappled; this Light render is a softer, airier take on the same pattern. It keeps the pointillist dot structure but with a lighter ground and a more open dot arrangement, giving it a gentler, less dense appearance than the standard 44 green-and-tan version.

The ground is a warm brown-tan, and over it sit rounded dots in a cream, a light olive-green, a tan and a mid-brown, with a few darker accents. The dots are small and rounded, densely but more openly arranged than the standard version, and the ground shows through more, giving the pattern a lighter, airier feel. The dark patches are less prominent here. The palette is warm — brown, tan, cream and olive — and the overall cast is lighter and softer than the classic pea dot.
