Pattern: German WWII Platanenmuster (Plane Tree) — Spring
The fresh green member of Germany’s first Waffen-SS camouflage family — field-green ground scattered with dark leaf spots and earthy brown clumps.
About the pattern
Platanenmuster is German for “plane tree pattern,” and it stands among the earliest camouflage designs the Waffen-SS used during World War II, introduced around 1937. It is built from a scatter of large, overlapping leaf-like marks that recall the dappled bark of a plane tree rather than the angular splinter shapes of earlier German patterns. The design was printed in seasonal versions, and this is the spring one.
A useful point of context: Platanenmuster belonged to the SS camouflage programme rather than general army issue, and it is one of the best-documented and most reproduced of the wartime German series. The soft, irregular leaf mottling gives it an organic, almost bramble-strewn character that differentiates it from the spotted and digital patterns of other armies.
This Spring colorway
This is the spring printing of the family. The ground is a muted field-green, and the leaf-like blobs fall in darker olive, charcoal-black, and warm brown clumps. There is enough green to signal spring growth, but it stays an earthy, slightly desaturated green rather than a bright one. In the family it is the natural counterpart to the warm tan-and-brown Fall printing.
How it reads on the garment
On a long-sleeve hooded tee the green-and-brown field looks like a shaded woodland print rather than a flat tactical green. The scattered leaf marks break the torso and sleeves into irregular organic shapes, so the surface softens as you step back and reveals fine texture up close. The light hood and collar drop away cleanly against the green base, and it pairs easily with olive, brown, black, and denim — reading as an earthy, understated outdoor pattern.
Why own it
This is the greener, fresher half of a genuinely collectible WWII family. German wartime camouflage holds a particular pull for militaria and history enthusiasts, and Platanenmuster is an early, well-defined example that is easy to identify and trace. If your eye leans to green but you want something with real provenance rather than a generic woodland, this delivers. It also rewards owning both seasons — the Spring and Fall printings are clearly related yet visually distinct, so they complement rather than repeat each other.
Fit, fabric and care
This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded t-shirt made for everyday layering. It is cut from a stretch 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend that moves with you and holds its shape, with a comfortable regular fit and sizes from S to 3XL. It weighs about 0.374 kg, so it packs small and layers easily under a jacket or a fleece in cooler weather.
- 94% polyester / 6% spandex
- Sizes S–3XL (choose your size from the options)
- Approx. 0.374 kg — lightweight and packable
- Wash at or below 45°C; do not bleach; do not soak for extended periods
Made to order
Each hooded tee is printed and sewn to order rather than stored in a warehouse, so the pattern is freshly applied for you. Production and fulfilment take about 4–7 days before your order is handed to shipping; courier delivery time then depends on your destination. Please double-check the size chart before ordering — because each item is made for you, returns are easier to avoid by choosing the right size up front. If a print runs slightly differently from what you see on screen, that is the nature of made-to-order garment printing.
Disclosure
This is a reproduction / military-inspired item, not an original wartime garment. The 1937 introduction and Waffen-SS association are documented pattern history, but the shirt itself is a modern printed reproduction for everyday wear. The earthy green colouring is a MegaCamo rendition of the design; original Platanenmuster printings varied in tone.
