Pattern: Ukrainian MM14

Its ground is a soft sage green, broken into small square pixels: tan and khaki blocks that warm the field, darker green clusters that pull it into shade, and a scatter of near-black specks with pale accents that keep the edges from blurring. The pixel scale is coarser than the very fine digital patterns of the same era, and the overall tone stays green and tan.

MM-14 is the digital camouflage of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and has been in service since 2014. It was first seen that year on special forces and air assault units and replaced the earlier Dubok pattern on 21 August 2014, and in July 2015 the Ministry of Defence approved it for standard issue. Collectors also know it as the Ukrainian pixel, as Poroh-1, meaning Gunpowder-1, and as Heleteika. Published readings of the palette disagree: one lists five tones of light beige, light green, swamp green, grey green and dark grey, another reads brown, khaki and light olive over sand, so the colourway is best judged from the cloth itself. A greener version is worn by the State Border Guard Service, and a jacket-only variant carries more reddish brown. MegaCamo labels this one the Ukrainian MM14.

On a light sports mesh the pixel field keeps its shape and its legibility, because the squares are large enough to survive the open weave and the small gaps of the cloth. It reads as a calm green and tan surface, so it sits easily with black, olive, khaki or sand, and it works wherever you want camouflage without noise: a session in the gym, a run in the park, a walk through town. Against grey concrete the tan pixels warm it up, against grass the darker greens take over.

The shirt itself

This is the T45 sports mesh t-shirt: 100% polyester mesh cloth at 7.05 oz, with a relaxed fit and a soft hand that keeps it comfortable from the first wear. It weighs about 0.19 kg, so it stays light on the shoulders even in the larger sizes.

The mesh is open enough to move air and dry quickly, and the double-needle hemmed sleeves and bottom hold their shape instead of fraying. The print sits in the fabric and is made not to fade, so the camouflage stays as sharp as the day it was made.
