About the Rauchtarn camouflage

Rauchtarn, meaning “smoke camouflage”, was a German pattern built around soft, blurred shapes instead of crisp edges. It was produced in seasonal colourways so soldiers could match the changing landscape, and the design deliberately avoided hard lines to keep the outline broken. Each rendition was printed in a spring and an autumn palette, and the spring version favours the lighter greens and greys of new growth.
