About the pattern

Schneetarn (snow camouflage) is a German winter pattern designed to break up the silhouette against snow, using a white ground scattered with soft grey-green blotches. This “Sparse” render is the lighter, more open version of the design — fewer and smaller grey-green blotches, leaving more of the white ground clear. It is the more minimal of the two Schneetarn versions, better for brighter, more open snowy conditions.

The ground is a bright white, and over it sit a smaller number of soft, scattered grey-green blotches and small dark specks. The blotches are irregular and organic, with soft feathery edges, but they are distributed sparsely, leaving large clear white areas. The palette is minimal — crisp white with grey-green and a little darker grey — giving the pattern a clean, almost bare snowy look. Because the blotches are sparse, the white ground dominates, making the pattern read as lighter and more open.

How it reads on the garment

Because the ground is mostly white and the blotches are sparse, this pattern prints with a clean, minimal winter feel. On the body the white ground is broken only lightly by the grey-green blotches, giving the surface a soft, speckled texture with plenty of clear white. It reads as a light, airy snow camouflage, and it would look striking against a bright white or light base.
