About the pattern

Eichenlaub (“oak leaf”) is a German World War Two camouflage pattern built from jagged, oak-leaf and dot shapes, part of the family of distinctive wartime German designs. This “Spring” render is the greener colourway of the Eichenlaub, using green and brown oak-leaf shapes with dark accents — the spring-facing version, more vegetal and green than the autumn Fall render.

The ground is a brown-olive, and over it sit jagged, oak-leaf and dot shapes in a green, a brown, a tan and a darker olive, with scattered black accents. The shapes are angular and leaf-like, with the characteristic jagged edges. The palette is greener and more vegetal than the Fall version — green, brown, olive and dark accents — giving the pattern a spring, leafy character. It is fairly dense, with the small leaf shapes and dots closely scattered, giving it a busy, organic texture.

How it reads on the garment

Because the shapes are jagged oak leaves and the palette is green, this pattern prints with a leafy, organic feel. On the body the brown-olive ground sits behind the green, brown and tan oak-leaf shapes, giving the surface a jagged, leafy texture. It reads as a spring oak-leaf pattern, green and natural. The warm ground sits well against the light hood lining and collar, keeping the neckline tidy.
