About the pattern

Palmenmuster (“palm tree pattern”) is a German World War Two SS camouflage pattern built from palm-frond and crinkled shapes alongside scattered dots. Camopedia documents the variety of German camouflage patterns. This “Spring v2” render is a greener, more olive variation of the Palmenmuster Spring — the same palm-frond and dot structure, but with a deeper olive ground and crisper shapes than the v1. It is a distinct colourway of the palm pattern.

The ground is a deeper olive-green, and over it sit palm-frond, crinkled and dot shapes in a green, a grey-green, a brown and scattered black accents. The shapes are organic and leaf-like, with the characteristic palm-frond and dot structure. Compared to v1, the ground here is deeper and more olive, and the shapes read as a touch crisper and more defined. The palette is olive-green — deep olive, green, grey-green, brown and dark accents — giving the pattern a deeper, more muted look than v1.

How it reads on the garment

Because the shapes are palm-fronds and the ground is deep olive, this pattern prints with a leafy, organic feel that is a touch more muted than v1. On the body the olive-green ground sits behind the green, brown and grey-green palm shapes, giving the surface a crinkled, textured look. It reads as a deeper olive palm pattern, distinctive and characterful. The olive-green ground sits reasonably against the light hood lining and collar, keeping the neckline tidy.
