Rauchtarn (“smoke” or “smoke camouflage”) is a German camouflage built from soft, blurred, smoke-like spots with feathery edges rather than sharp shapes. It is a distinctive German pattern. This “Spring” render is the greener colourway of the Rauchtarn, using blurred green and grey-brown spots with dark shadows — the spring-facing version, more vegetal than the autumn Fall render.

The ground is a grey-brown, and over it sit soft, blurred, smoke-like spots in a green, a grey-brown, a black and a grey. The spots have very soft, feathered edges, blending into one another like drifting smoke or shadow amid foliage. The palette is greener and more vegetal than the Fall version — green, grey-brown, black and grey — giving the pattern a soft, smoky, woodland look. The blurred edges and dark shadows give it a mottled, atmospheric texture, with no sharp shapes at all.

How it reads on the garment

Because the shapes are blurred and smoky, this pattern prints with a soft, atmospheric feel. On the body the grey-brown ground sits behind the soft green, grey-brown and black smoky spots, giving the surface a gentle, mottled, drifting texture. It reads as a spring smoke pattern, green and organic. The grey-brown ground sits reasonably against the light hood lining and collar, keeping the neckline tidy.
