This is the most vivid reading in the family. A saturated green ground carries light green, dark green and near-black forms, and the greens sit close enough in tone to read as one continuous canopy of vegetation. The near-black forms give the print its definition, so it stays legible in strong light instead of dissolving into a flat green mass, and the whole surface has a warm, high-energy feel.

MTP is the standard camouflage of the British Armed Forces, in service since March 2010, and it was designed to blend across woodland, jungle, compounds, crops, grassland and arid stone. Official British clothing records list a tropical-cut combat hat printed in MTP, and the MTP combat shirt and trousers are itemised for use on operations and jungle training, so jungle service belongs to the pattern itself rather than to a separate tropical print. The historic British tropical uniform, Tropical DPM or No.9 Dress, was issued from the 1970s in brighter and warmer colourings. This is the loudest of the family, so it wants plain company: black, khaki, sand and denim all settle it down, while a second busy print will not. On a light mesh tee the green stays vivid and the darker forms keep their edge, which makes it a strong choice for running, training and warm-weather wear where a flat dark shirt feels dull.

The shirt itself

This is the T45 sports mesh t-shirt: 100% polyester mesh cloth at 7.05 oz, with a relaxed fit and a soft hand that keeps it comfortable from the first wear. It weighs about 0.19 kg, so it stays light on the shoulders even in the larger sizes.

The mesh is open enough to move air and dry quickly, and the double-needle hemmed sleeves and bottom hold their shape instead of fraying. The print sits in the fabric and is made not to fade, so the camouflage stays as sharp as the day it was made.
