This is the balanced centre of the family. A sage-olive ground carries pale sand, olive, mid-green and brown forms in roughly even measure, so no single tone dominates: the print reads as a natural mix of dry ground and vegetation instead of a green pattern or a brown one. The forms keep the soft, irregular edges that give the family its disruptive feel, and the light sand lifts the whole surface so it stays open in daylight.

MTP is the standard camouflage pattern of the British Armed Forces, in service since March 2010 and designed at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory. It is a six-colour pattern, drawn up after trials against the temperate and desert DPM it replaced, and it was modelled on the desert and mixed environments British troops met in Afghanistan. It was issued to troops in Afghanistan from April 2010 and had replaced all DPM, woodland and desert alike, by 2013. The Ministry of Defence records it under pattern number 8003G and standard MAT0006B. MegaCamo labels this one the UK MTP.

The balanced palette is exactly why this one is so easy to live with. On a light mesh tee the sage, sand, olive, green and brown hold their separation without any of them taking over, so the shirt reads as camouflage first and as a print second. It pairs without effort with denim, khaki, olive and black, and it works as well in the city as it does outdoors.

The shirt itself

This is the T45 sports mesh t-shirt: 100% polyester mesh cloth at 7.05 oz, with a relaxed fit and a soft hand that keeps it comfortable from the first wear. It weighs about 0.19 kg, so it stays light on the shoulders even in the larger sizes.

The mesh is open enough to move air and dry quickly, and the double-needle hemmed sleeves and bottom hold their shape instead of fraying. The print sits in the fabric and is made not to fade, so the camouflage stays as sharp as the day it was made.
