Pattern: US Tiger Stripes Type 3 Dark
This fleece-lined hoodie carries a dark, subdued reading of the tiger-stripe camouflage — the feathered jungle pattern that runs in broad, wavy bands across the garment. Instead of the bright black-and-spring-green of the classic sets, this rendition uses charcoal-grey and olive bands over a khaki-tan ground, with pale cream accents showing between the stripes. The edges of each band are feathered and jagged, the “snake-scale” edge that gives tiger stripe its name.
About the US tiger-stripe family
Tiger stripe is a family of jungle camouflage born from layered, crosshatched brush strokes. It was developed by the South Vietnamese armed forces for close-range jungle fighting and was taken up by US Special Forces in the early 1960s, during the Vietnam War. Later copies spread across Southeast Asia and around the world, each region giving the feathered bands its own twist. It is one of the most recognisable camouflage families there is, and one of the most distinctive to wear.
The Type 3 Dark colorway
“Type 3 Dark” is the MegaCamo label for this particular member of the set. By eye it is a dark, muted tiger stripe: the brighter greens are pulled back behind charcoal-grey and olive bands, leaving the khaki-tan ground to show through. It still reads clearly as tiger stripe, but it sits closer to the subdued “jungle” readings than to the vivid spring versions. On a hoodie it loses none of the pattern’s character — the feathered edges stay crisp on the smooth printed face.
How the pattern reads on your hoodie
Tiger stripe is built for fabric. The bands sweep across the chest, follow the shoulders and run down the sleeves, and cross the kangaroo pocket without turning into noise. Because the stripes are broad and horizontal, they hold their shape on a loose cut rather than distorting around the seams. The result is a hoodie that reads as a deliberate graphic from a few metres away, and as a finely feathered pattern up close.
Why own this fleece-lined hoodie?
This is a camo classic you can actually wear every day. The subdued dark colourway is far easier to style than a bright jungle print — it pairs with dark jeans, cargoes or joggers without shouting. And because it is a genuine tiger stripe, it carries a piece of camouflage history that most people will only recognise by name. It is the kind of piece collectors reach for, and the reason people ask where you found it.
Comfort, fit and build
This fleece-lined hoodie is built for everyday wear. It is 100% polyester with a soft brushed fleece interior, an adjustable drawstring hood, long sleeves with ribbed cuffs, and a roomy kangaroo pocket that easily carries a phone and keys. The fit is relaxed, so it layers cleanly over a T-shirt and still looks tidy under a heavier jacket.
