About the US Marine Corps MARPAT

MARPAT (Marine Pattern) was adopted by the US Marine Corps in the early 2000s, and it was one of the first digitised camouflage patterns to be widely fielded. It is built from small square “pixels” in two overlapping scales — a macro layer and a micro layer — so it breaks up the figure at different distances. The desert version uses pale tan and cream to work in bright, arid terrain, and it quickly became a benchmark for modern military camo.
