This is the winter member of the Finnish M05 family. Where the standard M05 forest pattern is warm and green, Pakkaskuvio — the frost pattern — leans cooler and greyer, built for the cold, conifer country of the north. It is Nordic camouflage in its most practical form.

About the Finnish M05 camouflage

M05 is the Finnish Defence Forces pattern introduced in the mid-2000s, replacing the older M91. It uses a digital, pixelated design of small blocky shapes instead of soft edges, in a palette of green, tan, grey and dark accents, and it was designed to work across the varied bush and forest of Finland. The family includes several climatic renditions, and Pakkaskuvio is the cool-toned winter version.

The Frost colorway

“Pakkaskuvio” translates from Finnish as the frost pattern, and this rendition is the catalogue label for that cooler take: a grey-green base with muted tan and darker accents. It keeps the recognisable M05 pixelation but trades some of the warm, saturated green for grey, so it sits well in snow-dusted woodland.

How the pattern reads on your hoodie

The pixelated shapes are small and busy, so they pack the fabric evenly and read as a fine texture across the chest, sleeves and hood. The grey-green balance keeps it calmer than the brighter forest version, and the digital edges give it a crisp, modern look that photographs well.
