About the pattern

Sumpfmuster (marsh camouflage) is a German World War Two-era pattern built from soft, water-like blotches overlaid with fine rain streaks, designed for marshy, waterlogged terrain. Camopedia notes the Sumpftarn family had three consecutive versions, and that it was later revived by the West German BGS. This “44” render is a later, muted take on the marsh pattern, with a softer and more subdued palette than the brighter earlier versions. It is part of the same documented marsh-camo family.

The ground is a muted olive-tan, and over it sit broad, soft, water-like blotches in an olive-green, a green and a russet or dusty red-brown, with a fine rain-streak texture across the surface. The blotches are irregular and flowing, with soft edges, and they are gently spaced rather than densely packed. The palette is muted and earthy — olive, green, russet and tan — with the russet adding a warm accent. It reads as a softer, more subdued marsh camo than the earlier Sumpfmuster versions.

On the body the olive-tan ground sits behind the olive, green and russet blotches, giving the surface a soft, mottled, water-like texture.
