Near-black stripes run in long, stepped bands across an olive and sage ground, with rust-brown accents tucked into the lighter runs of colour. Contrast is high and the tone is deep: black does the structural work, olive and sage carry the body of the pattern, and the rust-brown adds a warm note that keeps the greens from turning cold. The overall effect is dark and woody rather than sunlit.

In the family’s own terms, green and brown stripes over a lighter olive or khaki ground is the standard tiger stripe arrangement, so the woodland word in this label describes a green-heavy reading of the striping rather than a separate pattern. In United States service the two names point at different things: tiger stripe and woodland are counted as different families, and towards the end of the Vietnam War tiger stripe was gradually replaced in American reconnaissance units by the ERDL pattern, itself the forerunner of the four-colour woodland design. Commercial tiger stripes in a darker green-and-brown palette also exist, closer in mood to this reading. This is the heaviest reading of the family to wear. On a light sports mesh the near-black striping holds its shape at a distance while the olive and sage ground keeps the pattern from reading as plain dark cloth. The rust-brown accents give it warmth, which helps it sit beside khaki, sand, brown or olive instead of only black. It suits gym work, running and urban wear, and printed on mesh it stays far livelier than the flat dark solid a shirt like this would otherwise be.

This is the T45 sports mesh t-shirt: 100% polyester mesh cloth at 7.05 oz, with a relaxed fit and a soft hand that keeps it comfortable from the first wear. It weighs about 0.19 kg, so it stays light on the shoulders even in the larger sizes.

The mesh is open enough to move air and dry quickly, and the double-needle hemmed sleeves and bottom hold their shape instead of fraying. The print sits in the fabric and is made not to fade, so the camouflage stays as sharp as the day it was made.
