Pattern: Austrian Sumpfmuster — Early

This is the early rendition of the Austrian Sumpfmuster, the country’s classic brushstroke camouflage. It carries the same leaf-and-bean construction as the late version, but the early print runs warmer, with more tan and brown and a lighter ground, giving it a noticeably brighter and more earthy look.

MegaCamo’s catalogue calls this the Austrian Sumpfmuster Early. On the image the ground is a warm tan-sand, and the soft rounded leaf shapes are olive-green, warm brown and mid-grey, again with the fine streaky texture. The palette is warmer and more golden than the grey-dominant late version.

On the hooded tee the early Sumpfmuster reads as a warm, inviting woodland camo. The tan ground and brown-and-olive leaf shapes give it a richer, sunnier character, and the soft rounded forms keep it from looking harsh. It is a warm, earthy and very wearable pattern.

Why own it: the early Sumpfmuster is the warm, golden face of the same iconic Austrian design. If you prefer a lighter, warmer camouflage over the grey late version, this is the one, and the rounded brushstroke shapes are genuinely handsome.

The garment. This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded T-shirt, printed all over with the pattern you see on the image. It is cut with long sleeves and a hood and fits as a regular, athletic top. The fabric is a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend, so it stretches with you, feels smooth against the skin and takes the all-over print cleanly. It is a lightweight piece — about 0.374 kg — and runs in sizes S to 3XL.

Fit and size. Because the sizes run S–3XL, pick the one closest to your usual top size; the stretch in the spandex gives a little forgiveness, but for a closer cut take a size down and for a looser, layer-over fit take a size up. The print is applied across the whole garment, so the pattern continues over the chest, arms and hood without a break.

Made to Order. Each shirt is printed and sewn after you place your order. Production and fulfilment take roughly 4 to 7 days before the item ships — that is the time to make and pack it, not the total delivery time, which then depends on transport once it leaves us. It is not sitting on a shelf, and that is what lets us offer patterns that would never be worth stocking.

Care. To protect the print, machine wash at or below 45°C, do not use bleach and avoid prolonged soaking. Launder on a normal cycle with like colours and don’t tumble dry hot. Cold, gentle washing is the best way to keep the colours bright.
