Pattern: French Lizard C1 — an olive-and-plum brushstroke
Here the French lizard family takes an unusual turn. The base is a muted olive green, and the brushstrokes that cross it are a dusty plum or mauve-brown rather than the usual brick-red. The result is a warmer, more autumnal lizard — olive and purple-brown together — that stands apart from the red-and-green versions most people picture.
MegaCamo labels this the C1. It belongs to the French lizard (or léopard) family, the brushstroke camouflage born of the British Denison smock and worn by the French Army from 1947 into the late 1980s. Collectors often call it TAP 47. The key historical fact is that the family was issued in a long run of different dye lots and prints over repeated years, so variants within it are expected and authentic. The plum-toned C1 is MegaCamo’s specific reading of that breadth, not an invented pattern.
The C1’s signature is the purple-brown stroke. Where the A2 uses a dusty red and the D uses a rich maroon, the C1 pulls the accent toward plum, which gives the whole garment a warmer, deeper, almost smoky feel. On the shirt the brushstrokes still flow organically over the olive base, so the pattern keeps its hand-painted energy, but the colour story is distinctly warmer than the cooler B1 or the brighter E1. It sits especially well with earthy, autumnal layers.
Why own it
If you like the lizard family but want something off the beaten path, the C1’s olive-and-plum pairing is genuinely distinctive — you rarely see that warmth on a brushstroke camo. For a collector it fills a niche between the classic red-and-green lizards and the pale variants, and for a casual wearer it gives you a camo that feels rich and a little vintage. It is an easy shirt to combine with brown, olive, tan and navy.
Fit, fabric and care
This is a long-sleeve lightweight hooded tee in 94% polyester / 6% spandex, so it stretches with you and stays light and smooth. It comes in S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL and weighs 0.374 kg. Being made to order, a small production tolerance of about ±5% applies, so compare the size chart against your usual fit first. Wash cold, at or below 45 °C, do not bleach, and do not soak it for long.
Made to order
The tee is printed all-over and sewn after you place your order, so expect around 4–7 days of production and fulfilment before it ships; final delivery depends on your location. The C1 pattern runs across the whole garment rather than sitting in one print area.
Part of the collection
This C1 is one of several French Lizard sheets in the catalogue, alongside the A2, B1, D, tropical, E1 and F1 variants. If the warm plum direction is your thing, keep exploring the wider French camouflage range — the CCE and Daguet sheets give a different take on the same national story.
