Pattern: Six-Colour Desert “chocolate chip” — a warm tan Gulf-War classic
Across this lightweight long-sleeve hooded tee sits the classic American desert print: a pale sand-and-cream base carrying large, soft-edged patches in olive-green, light rust-brown and a grey rock tone, all broken up by small dark-brown and black specks scattered right through the design. Those tiny specks are the detail that gave the pattern its name — they read like chocolate chips baked into a cookie-dough field, which is exactly the nickname soldiers gave it.
This is the United States Six-Colour Desert Pattern, sold to me as Chocolate Chip or Cookie Dough camouflage. It was developed by the United States and standardized for the Desert Battle Dress Uniform (DBDU), fielded from 1981 through the mid-1990s, and it is the desert pattern most closely linked to the Gulf War era. It was copied widely by allied and regional forces, including long-running use in Saudi Arabia and standardization in the United Arab Emirates around 1993.
The rendition on this tee is the warm tan desert — the closest to the issued US scheme, with a sandy ground under brown and olive shapes. “Chocolate chip” is the family; this is the canonical American colourway, and “USA” is the catalogue group you will find it filed under.
How it reads on the garment
Because the coloured blotches are broad and the specks are small, the print reads as a layered, rocky desert from arm’s length and as a speckled, grainy field up close. The warm tan palette stays neutral, so it does not fight a jacket or a pair of jeans, and on the hood and long sleeves the pattern wraps around the body without a single loud panel.
Why own this lightweight hooded tee?
If you want a genuinely recognisable piece of Gulf-War-era camouflage history without the weight of surplus kit, this is a clean, comfortable way to wear it. The desert base is easy to combine, which makes it a useful everyday layer rather than a costume, and it makes a natural starting point if you are building a set of the classic desert prints rather than yet another woodland.
Comfort, fit and build
The tee is cut from a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend — stretchy, quick to dry and smooth against the skin — with a hood and long sleeves. It is lightweight, around 0.374 kg, and comes in sizes S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL.
Made to order, sizing and care
Each tee is printed and sewn after you place the order. Production and fulfilment take 4 to 7 days before your order ships — that is the making time, not the full delivery time, which then depends on the carrier and destination. Printed garments carry a small production tolerance of roughly +/-5% on measurements, so pick your usual size from the options on the page.
To keep the print looking crisp, wash at 45°C or below, avoid bleach and avoid any prolonged soaking.
