Pattern: US MARPAT

US MARPAT is a fine, dense pixel field and one of the calmest of the digital patterns. A sage-green ground carries most of the surface, broken by small rectangular pixels in olive and dark green, with brown and black speckling worked through the mix to give the field depth. The pixel scale is small enough that the pattern softens at a distance and sharpens up close, so the cloth never reads as flat or single-toned.

MARPAT, short for Marine Pattern, is the United States Marine Corps’ digital camouflage, worn on the Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform. It was designed in 2001 and introduced from late 2002 to early 2005, and it is built from small rectangular pixels rather than the soft organic blobs of the older patterns, which is where the “digital” nickname comes from. Woodland and Desert were the two colourways taken into general issue, and the same pixel repeat also sits behind the US Army’s Universal Camouflage Pattern. MegaCamo labels this one the US MARPAT.

On a light sports mesh, MARPAT keeps its structure without looking busy. The pixel grid is tight, so a fine weave does not blur it, and the sage ground stays readable against olive, dark green, brown and black. The print holds a clean, faintly matte look on the open mesh instead of glaring under gym lighting, which makes it easy to wear with khaki, coyote, olive or plain black. It suits running, training and everyday city wear: quiet enough for the office, patterned enough to stand out.

The shirt itself

This is the T45 sports mesh t-shirt: 100% polyester mesh cloth at 7.05 oz, with a relaxed fit and a soft hand that keeps it comfortable from the first wear. It weighs about 0.19 kg, so it stays light on the shoulders even in the larger sizes.

The mesh is open enough to move air and dry quickly, and the double-needle hemmed sleeves and bottom hold their shape instead of fraying. The print sits in the fabric and is made not to fade, so the camouflage stays as sharp as the day it was made.
