Kamysh (Kamush): Russia’s Tiger-Stripe Pattern for Special Units

Two Russian police officers in dark blue wavy-striped camouflage, one seen from behind wearing a yellow Cyrillic OMON back panel, the other in profile, on a rainy day in front of a red brick building.

In Russian, камыш — kamysh — is the reed at the water’s edge, and the word has been asked to carry several quite different prints. This article separates the circa-1993 tiger-type design, the 1995 камышовый рисунок and the grey «Серый камыш», and sets out what is documented about the units that wore them.
