Australian DESERT-AUSCAM MKIII Lightweight Hooded T-Shirt

Pattern: Australian DESERT-AUSCAM MKIII — pale desert DPCU

This is a later desert rendition of the Australian DPCU disruptives. The Australian Defence Force’s DPCU was recoloured into a series of desert versions, and the MKIII moves the palette into a paler, more muted range than the MKI.

The MKIII desert colourway sits on a very pale, almost greenish-sand base. The soft-rounded shapes are filled with a warm brown, a muted mauve-grey and a light olive-grey, with very little saturation. The whole pattern is pale, close-toned and quiet.

On a hooded long-sleeve shirt this reads as a light, faded desert camo. It is understated and easy to wear, and the low-contrast palette gives it a subtle, modern feel rather than a bold camo look.

Why own it: the MKIII is the palest and most muted of the Australian desert set. It is a genuinely different wash from the warm MKI, so it is a nice variation to have, and its soft desert palette wears quietly with most things.

The garment. This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded T-shirt, with the print carried across the whole garment. It is cut with long sleeves and a hood and fits as a regular, athletic top. The fabric is a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend, so it stretches with you, feels smooth against the skin and takes the print cleanly. It is a lightweight piece — about 0.374 kg — and runs in sizes S to 3XL.

Fit and size. Check the size chart and compare the measurements with a top you already own before ordering — each piece is made to order, so getting the fit right up front matters. The stretch in the spandex gives a little forgiveness, but for a closer cut take a size down and for a looser, layer-over fit take a size up. Production measurement tolerance is ±5%.

Made to Order. Each shirt is printed and sewn after you place your order. Production and fulfilment take roughly 4 to 7 days before the item ships — that is the time to make and pack it, not the total delivery time, which then depends on transport once it leaves us. It is not sitting on a shelf, and that is what lets us offer patterns that would never be worth stocking.

Care. To protect the print, machine wash at or below 45°C, do not use bleach and avoid prolonged soaking. Launder on a normal cycle with like colours and don’t tumble dry hot. Cold, gentle washing is the best way to keep the colours bright.
