Pattern: Australian DESERT-AUSCAM MKI — desert DPCU
This is the desert offshoot of the Australian DPCU pattern. The Australian Defence Force needed a desert version of its Disruptive Pattern Camouflage Uniform for operations in dry, open terrain, and the result was a desert rendition of the same five-colour Australian design.
The MKI desert colourway sits on a pale sand-greige base. The rounded soft-edged shapes are filled in a warm brown, a light grey-tan and a muted olive, so the whole pattern stays pale, dry and low-contrast. It keeps the organic, rounded construction of DPCU but strips it right back for the desert.
On a hooded tee this reads as a light, neutral desert camo — easy on the eye and easy to pair. The dry palette is a smart shift from the green DPCU, and it works well in summer and in the city.
Why own it: this is the Australian desert disruptives in their first, warm rendition. It is a genuine national pattern pulled into a clean, wearable desert palette, and a good pick if you want the Australian look without the green.
The garment. This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded T-shirt, printed all over with the pattern you see on the image. It is cut with long sleeves and a hood and fits as a regular, athletic top. The fabric is a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend, so it stretches with you, feels smooth against the skin and takes the all-over print cleanly. It is a lightweight piece — about 0.374 kg — and runs in sizes S to 3XL.
Fit and size. Because the sizes run S–3XL, pick the one closest to your usual top size; the stretch in the spandex gives a little forgiveness, but for a closer cut take a size down and for a looser, layer-over fit take a size up. The print is applied across the whole garment, so the pattern continues over the chest, arms and hood without a break.
Made to Order. Each shirt is printed and sewn after you place your order. Production and fulfilment take roughly 4 to 7 days before the item ships — that is the time to make and pack it, not the total delivery time, which then depends on transport once it leaves us. It is not sitting on a shelf, and that is what lets us offer patterns that would never be worth stocking.
Care. To protect the print, machine wash at or below 45°C, do not use bleach and avoid prolonged soaking. Launder on a normal cycle with like colours and don’t tumble dry hot. Cold, gentle washing is the best way to keep the colours bright.
