Pattern: US Desert 3 colors

The classic three-colour desert reading: a pale sand ground with wavy blotches of muted olive-green and rust-brown drifting across it. Its forms are broad, soft-edged and horizontal in feel, tipped with darker brown outlines, so the field reads like wind-worked sand rather than a tight graphic. The value range is narrow, light sand to mid olive to warm brown, and that is exactly why it holds up over open, bright terrain and why it stays calm on a garment.

The three-colour desert pattern, often called tri-colour desert, or “coffee stain”, replaced the six-colour chocolate-chip design and became the standard arid pattern of the US armed forces, in service from the early 1990s to the early 2010s. The US Army Infantry School selected and approved it in October 1990, and the first wide batches of the Desert Camouflage Uniform were issued in 1992. It then served as the Army’s primary desert combat pattern until the ACU replaced it in 2008. MegaCamo labels this one the US Desert 3 colors.

This is the T45 sports mesh t-shirt: 100% polyester mesh cloth at 7.05 oz, with a relaxed fit and a soft hand that keeps it comfortable from the first wear. It weighs about 0.19 kg, so it stays light on the shoulders even in the larger sizes.

The mesh is open enough to move air and dry quickly, and the double-needle hemmed sleeves and bottom hold their shape instead of fraying. The print sits in the fabric and is made not to fade, so the camouflage stays as sharp as the day it was made.
