By eye it is the brightest, cleanest of the winter frogskins: a near-white ground carrying pale sage-green blotches and soft grey pebbles. Duck Hunter, also known as frog skin, has roots in 1942, when cloth was commissioned for US Marine Raiders. Its best-known form, the M1942 reversible “frog skin”, was worn by US Marines in the Pacific.

The original fabric was reversible – one green, spring/summer side and one brown, autumn side – and both were built from small, soft, leaf- and pebble-like blotches rather than stripes or pixels. Here the classic soft-blotch design is re-run in a clean, bright arctic palette, so it stays a genuine piece of camouflage history while reading as winterwear. It is the closest this pattern comes to a true white-out, so it reads as snow rather than as a grey-toned print. The pale pallet stays airy across a big print, and the smooth printed face keeps the edges crisp.
