Pattern: Danish M84 — M/84 Pletsløring woodland
The Danish M84, officially the M/84 Pletsløring, is the camouflage Denmark carried for the better part of three decades. Introduced in 1984 and used by the Danish armed forces until around 2018, it belongs to the broad Flecktarn family — it is a German-derived design, but the Danes built their own distinctive take on it rather than copying it outright. Where German Flecktarn uses small, rounded dots of colour, the Danish M84 is characterised by a bolder, more fragmented layout: a strong set of dark, almost jagged shapes sitting amongst the greens and greys, which is what gives the pattern its recognisable, slightly harsh face.
Colour is the defining thing here. The ground is a fairly bright olive green, and running over it are irregular, hard-edged patches of near-black, together with grey-green and a soft grey-khaki. The result is a dense, busy woodland pattern with a lot of small-scale detail — it reads as a classic Northern-European temperate forest camo, busier and more spotted than the bolder blotches of, say, British DPM. That fine, dotted texture is the hallmark of the Flecktarn-derived M84.
On a lightweight hooded tee the M84 detail really shows. Because the pattern is made up of lots of small, scattered shapes, the all-over print on the chest, arms and hood reads as a rich, textured green camo rather than a few large blobs. It is a recognisable and complete military pattern, and on the smooth fabric the fine flecks stay crisp.
Why own this version: the M84 is a genuinely well-known national pattern with a long and documented service history. Its Flecktarn lineage, its distinctive black-and-green fragmentation and its years of Danish use, including on peacekeeping and recce operations, make it a solid piece of military-design history. It is also simply a handsome, detailed woodland camo that stands apart from the broader hunter-style greens.
The garment. This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded T-shirt, printed all over with the pattern you can see on the image. It is cut with long sleeves and a hood and fits as a regular, athletic top. The fabric is a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend, so it stretches with you, sits smooth against the skin and takes the all-over print cleanly. It is a light piece — about 0.374 kg — and runs in sizes S to 3XL.
Fit and size. Because the sizes run S–3XL, pick the one closest to your usual top; the stretch in the spandex gives a little forgiveness, but for a closer cut take a size down and for a looser, layer-over fit take a size up. The print covers the whole garment, so the pattern continues across the chest, arms and hood without a gap.
Made to Order. Each shirt is printed and sewn after you place your order. Production and fulfilment take roughly 4 to 7 days before the item ships — that is the time to make and pack it, not the total delivery time, which then depends on transport once it leaves us. It is not sitting on a shelf, and that is what allows a niche national pattern like the M84 to be offered at all.
Care. To protect the print, machine wash at or below 45°C, skip the bleach and avoid prolonged soaking. Launder on a normal cycle with like colours and don’t tumble dry hot. Gentle washing keeps the olive ground fresh and the dark flecks from fading.
