Pattern: Danish M99 Desert — the desert M/84
When Denmark sent troops into dry, open environments — most famously on operations in Afghanistan and the wider ISAF deployments — the woodland M/84 was too dark and too green for the terrain. The response was a family of desert renditions of the same pattern, usually written as T/99 or M/01, and it is this arid face that MegaCamo slots under the name M99 Desert. The construction is the M/84 you already know — that Flecktarn-derived, fragmented layout with its jagged dark shapes — but the palette is completely recoloured for sun-bleached terrain.
Look at the shirt and the ground is a pale, dusty tan and sand. Over it sit washes of warm brown and rust, patches of grey-green, and lighter pale-tan highlights, all in that same irregular, dotted M84 layout. The deep blacks of the woodland version are replaced by softer browns and ochres, and the whole pattern reads drier, paler and less saturated — exactly what a desert M84 should be. It is a convincing arid palette that keeps the recognisable Danish structure.
On a lightweight hooded tee the M99 Desert reads as a light, natural desert camo. The tan ground and the brown-and-grey-green patches break up the silhouette without the heavy contrast of the woodland version, so it is an easy, wearable print. On the chest, arms and hood the fine M84 flecks carry the desert colourway cleanly across the all-over print.
Why own this version: it is the same historic Danish pattern in its operational desert form, tied to the real deployments of Danish forces in arid zones. Being a drier, lower-contrast rendition it is also a more versatile everyday colour than the dark woodland, while keeping that documented military lineage. If you like the M84 pattern but want a palette that is easier to wear, the M99 Desert is the one.
The garment. This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded T-shirt, printed all over with the pattern you can see on the image. It is cut with long sleeves and a hood and fits as a regular, athletic top. The fabric is a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend, so it stretches with you, sits smooth against the skin and takes the all-over print cleanly. It is a light piece — about 0.374 kg — and runs in sizes S to 3XL.
Fit and size. Because the sizes run S–3XL, pick the one closest to your usual top; the stretch in the spandex gives a little forgiveness, but for a closer cut take a size down and for a looser, layer-over fit take a size up. The print covers the whole garment, so the pattern continues across the chest, arms and hood without a gap.
Made to Order. Each shirt is printed and sewn after you place your order. Production and fulfilment take roughly 4 to 7 days before the item ships — that is the time to make and pack it, not the total delivery time, which then depends on transport once it leaves us. It is not sitting on a shelf, and that is what allows a niche desert variant like this to be offered at all.
Care. To protect the print, machine wash at or below 45°C, skip the bleach and avoid prolonged soaking. Launder on a normal cycle with like colours and don’t tumble dry hot. Gentle washing keeps the tan ground clean and the brown and grey-green patches from muddying.
