French GIPN Urban v3 Camouflage Lightweight Hooded T-Shirt

Pattern: GIPN Urban v3 — a pale grey urban with charcoal clouds

GIPN was the Groupe d’Intervention de la Police Nationale, the French police’s direct-action and hostage-rescue units, eventually merged into the RAID between 2015 and 2019. Its domain was the urban crisis — which is the whole reason MegaCamo groups these grey disruptions under the “Urban” name. “GIPN Urban v3” is a catalogue colourway, our label for a grey urban pattern, not a uniform the unit itself issued; keep that distinction in mind and the name is simply a useful handle for the visual.

v3 is the boldest and most graphic of the three. The base is a pale, light grey, almost off-white, and over it sit rounded, cloud-like masses of dark charcoal alongside lighter grey-grey accents. The contrast between the very light ground and the very dark blobs is noticeably stronger than in v1 or v2, so the shapes read as clear, distinct, puffy forms rather than a soft wash. The edges are still organic and wavy — no digital pixels — but the play of near-white against near-black gives the pattern real punch.

On a lightweight hooded tee that high-contrast clouding is what makes the print pop. Where the other two GIPN renditions recede, v3 comes forward: the dark charcoal clouds sit clearly on the pale ground across the chest, arms and hood, and because the hood and sleeves are part of the print, the pattern reads as bold and deliberate from every angle. It is still an urban, concrete-and-stone camouflage, just with the contrast dialled up.

Why own this version: if you want a grey urban camo that is actually visible from across a room, v3 is the choice. It has the most decided character of the family, it reads as a statement rather than a neutral, and the pale-base-dark-cloud combination is the kind of thing that looks sharp on a hooded tee. For a more graphic, more fashion-forward take on the Urban family, v3 is the standout.

The garment. This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded T-shirt, with the print carried across the whole garment. It is cut with long sleeves and a hood and fits as a regular, athletic top. The fabric is a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend, so it stretches with you, sits smooth against the skin and takes the print cleanly. It is a light piece — about 0.374 kg — and runs in sizes S to 3XL.

Fit and size. Measurements are the reliable guide here: check the size chart against a garment that already fits you well, since every piece is cut and sewn to order. The stretch in the spandex gives a little forgiveness, but for a closer cut take a size down and for a looser, layer-over fit take a size up. Production measurement tolerance is ±5%.

Made to Order. Each shirt is printed and sewn after you place your order. Production and fulfilment take roughly 4 to 7 days before the item ships — that is the time to make and pack it, not the total delivery time, which then depends on transport once it leaves us. It is not sitting on a shelf, and that is what allows a niche grey urban pattern like this to be offered at all.

Care. To protect the print, machine wash at or below 45°C, skip the bleach and avoid prolonged soaking. Launder on a normal cycle with like colours and don’t tumble dry hot. Gentle washing keeps the pale base fresh and the charcoal clouds from muddying into the light ground.
