Pattern: US Duck Hunter Frogskin Parachute

US Duck Hunter Frogskin Parachute is MegaCamo’s label for the green-and-tan reading of Duck Hunter, the American mottled camouflage of the Second World War that is also called frog skin. It is built from small, soft, leaf- and pebble-like blotches rather than stripes or pixels — there is no hard edge anywhere in the design: a pale cream-khaki field scattered with dull olive-green leaf shapes and soft mid-brown pebbles, in roughly even measure.

Duck Hunter has roots in 1942, when cloth was commissioned for the US Marine Raiders. Its best-known form, the M1942 reversible frog skin, was worn by US Marines in the Pacific: one face a green spring and summer side, the other a brown autumn side. The Parachute colourway sits between those two readings, which is what makes it the easiest frogskin to wear as everyday camouflage.

Frogskin is a soft pattern, and a light mesh tee lets it stay soft. On this shirt the mottling reads as texture rather than as a bold print, so it works with denim, khaki and olive without looking like a costume — and the breathable mesh keeps a cream-and-olive palette wearable through the warm months.

How it is made

The T45 is cut from 100% polyester mesh cloth at 7.05 oz, in a relaxed fit and finished with double-needle hems on the sleeves and the bottom. The shirt weighs about 0.19 kg.

That open mesh structure is the point: air passes through it, so it dries fast and stays comfortable when the temperature climbs. The print does not fade, and the shirt keeps its shape through repeated wear and washing.

Machine wash cold and let it dry naturally; do not bleach. Cold washing is what keeps both the mesh and the colour at their best.
