Pattern: US UCP Delta

UCP Delta keeps the grey-sage pixel language of the standard pattern and warms it up. The pale grey, sage and slate pixels are still there in the same fine grid, but larger blocks of coyote-brown and khaki now break across the field. Those warmer blocks lift the contrast considerably: where the standard reading is chalky and close in value, this one has real darks and lights, and the whole surface looks fuller and more layered as a result.

UCP Delta, also written UCP-D, was an experimental step in the UCP story. With the Army looking at replacements for use in Afghanistan, it trialled a version that folded an additional coyote tone into the scheme. The test was brief, roughly six months in 2008-09, largely with airborne and infantry units, and the variant was then set aside and never adopted for general issue. This shirt reads the same pixel language with that warmer, higher-contrast lift. MegaCamo labels this one the US UCP Delta.

Warmer tones and a slightly heavier contrast make UCP Delta the better-behaved of the two UCP readings on a light mesh. The coyote and khaki blocks give the print something to hold onto, so the shirt looks considered rather than washed out, and the fine pixel grid still keeps the surface from looking busy. It pairs well with brown, tan, olive, sand and black. A good choice for training, hiking and everyday wear when you want a digital camo that is quiet but not pale.

The shirt itself

This is the T45 sports mesh t-shirt: 100% polyester mesh cloth at 7.05 oz, with a relaxed fit and a soft hand that keeps it comfortable from the first wear. It weighs about 0.19 kg, so it stays light on the shoulders even in the larger sizes.

The mesh is open enough to move air and dry quickly, and the double-needle hemmed sleeves and bottom hold their shape instead of fraying. The print sits in the fabric and is made not to fade, so the camouflage stays as sharp as the day it was made.
