Polish Panthera Desert Camouflage Fleece-Lined Hoodie

Pattern: Wz. 93 Pantera (Polish Panther)

This hoodie is printed across the whole garment with the Wz. 93 Pantera — Polish for “Model 93 Panther” — the standard camouflage of the Polish Armed Forces. We list it under “Panthera” in the catalogue; the Polish designation is “Pantera.” Introduced in 1993, it replaced the earlier wz. 89 Puma and has been issued across the Polish military ever since. It was first developed for Poland’s special-operations unit JW GROM, and it became the general-issue pattern after President Lech Wałęsa was seen wearing GROM’s camouflage at military exercises. Pantera first saw combat with Polish troops in UNPROFOR, and also equipped the Border Guard and the State Protection Service.

In its woodland form the pattern uses four soft colours — an olive background, dark green, brown and black — in irregular, organic blobs. There is no strong vertical or horizontal direction, which is what separates it from a hard-edged tiger-stripe or a pixel print. The shapes sit softly against one another rather than forming sharp geometric rows.

The desert version

The print on this hoodie is the arid version of the same pattern. In references it is generally listed as the Wz. 2000 or the “desert Pantera” (Polish: Pantera Pustynna), and sometimes simply as “PL Desert.” It keeps the Pantera shapes and swaps the colours for a sandier palette, introduced around the early 2000s as Polish troops moved into the desert and semi-arid terrain of Iraq and Afghanistan.

On the garment that reads as a light greige and cream base with soft olive-brown, khaki and darker grey-brown blobs, printed across the chest, sleeves and hood. There is no strong directional flow, so it reads as a large, soft disruptive print rather than a uniform or a grid. That history belongs to the camouflage design, not to the hoodie — this is a modern printed garment, not a military surplus piece.

Why own this hoodie?

This is a camouflage you can put a name on, and the desert version is the less familiar one. Most people recognise the green Pantera; far fewer expect to find the arid interpretation on a casual hoodie. If you like a pattern with real provenance rather than a generic woodland or digital print, this is an easy way to wear one.

It also works as everyday clothing. The soft, rounded blobs sit well on a garment rather than a uniform, so you get a distinctive, restrained camo that reads as streetwear rather than surplus kit or a costume — and the hoodie itself is a comfortable layer you will reach for.

The hoodie

The print sits on a smooth 100% polyester outer shell, and the hoodie is lined inside with a soft fleece that rests against the body — so the camouflage is on the exterior fabric while the brushed interior lining keeps you warm. It has the classic pull-over shape: an adjustable drawstring hood, long sleeves, and a kangaroo pocket.

Available in sizes S to 5XL. Because each piece is printed and made to order, a length deviation of around ±5% is normal (manual measurement and production), so check the size chart below and compare it with your own measurements before choosing.
