CCE stands for Camouflage Centre Europe, the woodland pattern adopted by the French armed forces in the early 1990s to replace the earlier lizard camouflage. It uses soft, irregular shapes in olive green, brown, tan and dark accents, designed to work in the varied temperate landscapes of central and western Europe. It has since been a fixture of the French Army, and its balanced, natural look has kept it popular long after newer patterns appeared.
