A pale reading of the lizard design: a washed khaki-cream ground with soft strokes of lichen green and mauve-brown. Nothing in the print is fully saturated, which gives the shirt a faded, sun-bleached look.

The lizard family — camouflage léopard in French — runs from 1947 to the late 1980s and is known to collectors as TAP 47 — a brushstroke pattern developed from the British Denison smock, built from two printed colours that leave gaps showing a third dyed base. Within the collector classification of those prints, D tropical denotes broad pale lichen-green and purple-brown strokes over a khaki ground, and it is a colourway code rather than an official French Army designation. Pale weather-beaten lizard prints of this type are documented on tropical and all-arms garments of the period.
