Pattern: Czech oblaky — vz.60 Rainstripe (brown clouds)

The Czechoslovak rainstripe goes by more than one name. The most common is jehlicí, meaning needles, but the same family of patterns is also called oblaky — clouds — a reference to the way the pale ground breaks up into a cloudy, dappled mass beneath the dark strokes. MegaCamo uses the oblaky label for this brown rendition. The construction is the classic vz.60 design: a dense field of fine vertical dashes over a two-tone ground, derived from the East German Strichtarn but given the distinctive Czechoslovak background.

In this rendition the whole thing sits in a soft brown range. The ground is a pale, dusty beige and light brown, with the fine dashes over it in a slightly deeper earth brown. The two-tone ground and the streaked overlay together produce a dry, mottled, almost sandy read. It is the warm, high-key end of the rainstripe family — lighter and more open than the darker green needles, closer to a pale bush or dry-grass camouflage.

On a lightweight hooded tee the oblaky pattern gives a fine, textured and slightly lighter look. The shallow brown dashes and the pale ground run across the chest, arms and hood as a continuous all-over print, and it reads softer and more neutral than the green version. It is a versatile, easy-to-wear rainstripe that does not feel heavy or busy.

Why own this version: it is the same documented Czechoslovak rainstripe in a pale, earthy palette. The light brown and beige tones are uncommonly easy to pair with everyday clothing, and the fine dashed texture keeps it interesting without being loud. For a subtly historic, dry-toned camo that works almost anywhere, the oblaky brown is a good choice.

The garment. This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded T-shirt, printed all over with the pattern you can see on the image. It is cut with long sleeves and a hood and fits as a regular, athletic top. The fabric is a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend, so it stretches with you, sits smooth against the skin and takes the all-over print cleanly. It is a light piece — about 0.374 kg — and runs in sizes S to 3XL.

Fit and size. Because the sizes run S–3XL, pick the one closest to your usual top; the stretch in the spandex gives a little forgiveness, but for a closer cut take a size down and for a looser, layer-over fit take a size up. The print covers the whole garment, so the pattern continues across the chest, arms and hood without a gap.

Made to Order. Each shirt is printed and sewn after you place your order. Production and fulfilment take roughly 4 to 7 days before the item ships — that is the time to make and pack it, not the total delivery time, which then depends on transport once it leaves us. It is not sitting on a shelf, and that is what allows a historic Eastern Bloc pattern like this to be offered at all.

Care. To protect the print, machine wash at or below 45°C, skip the bleach and avoid prolonged soaking. Launder on a normal cycle with like colours and don’t tumble dry hot. Gentle washing keeps the pale ground clean and the brown dashes from muddying.
