About the pattern

“Tonghab” (통합, “Unified”) was the single standard camouflage adopted across the Republic of Korea Armed Forces around 1996 — one print for the whole force rather than a patchwork of local designs. It sits in the woodland family, with soft organic masses in green, brown, tan and black descending from the ERDL and M81 tradition, and is widely described as very close to the US M81. Koreans nicknamed it “Frog” (개구리), and it followed the earlier M-1990 combat uniform lineage before the digital designs arrived.

It is a real national-issue pattern with a documented story, not a made-up catalogue design — which is exactly why it is worth owning. The design is unmistakably woodland, but the “Unified” origin and native nickname give it a specific South Korean character.

This v3 colorway

v3 is the outlier of the family and the most interesting to look at. Where v1 and v2 run warm and saturated, v3 is deliberately cool and muted. The green turns to a quieter sage, the brown softens into a grey-mauve taupe, the tan lifts to a creamy off-white, and the dark accents shift from charcoal toward a slate-blue. The overall cast is desaturated and slightly cool, almost like the same woodland seen through a filter. It is a generation variant rather than a different pattern, but the colour shift is clearly visible.

How it reads on the garment

Because the palette is cooler and the tones are closer together, v3 prints with a softer, more subdued rhythm than the warm variants. On the body it still breaks up the silhouette through the same linked organic shapes, but the overall impression is gentler and more “modern” — the sage and slate-blue pick up a subtle denim-like depth that a bright green woodland does not. The light-grey hood lining and collar sit naturally against the muted field, leaving a clean neckline.

If a bright green-and-red woodland feels too loud, v3 is the answer. The cool, muted palette pairs effortlessly with grey, black, white and blue denim, so it works as a subtle daily camo rather than a loud statement.
