About the Swedish M90 splinter pattern

The M90 is the standard combat camouflage of the Swedish Armed Forces, introduced in 1989 and issued to every branch of the service as part of the military’s Uniform System 90. It is what collectors call a splinter pattern: a surface of sharp, angular fragments built from straight edges and polygons rather than soft, organic blotches. The geometry nods toward the German splinter patterns of the Second World War, but the M90 is its own thing. Its shapes sit flush against one another instead of overlapping, which gives it a flat, almost graphic character. That is why it reads so clearly at arm’s length and stays legible up close, and why it photographs so well on a garment.

The “Night” colorway: a darker M90

The standard M90 uses subdued greens and olive to melt into Nordic forest. “Night” is not an official Swedish designation – it is MegaCamo’s own darker colorway of that same geometry. Instead of greens, the identical angular shards are printed in charcoal, slate grey and near-black, which shifts the whole mood from woodland to something edgier and more urban.
