Pattern: US Duck Hunter Frogskin Autumn
This fleece-lined hoodie carries the warm, brown-leaning side of the US “Duck Hunter” camouflage, the American mottled pattern of the Second World War that collectors also call frogskin. It is a warm pullover whose printed face brings an earthy brown take on that classic wartime design – camouflage history you can actually wear as an everyday layer.
Origins and the Autumn colorway
Duck Hunter, also written as two words, goes back to 1942, when cloth was commissioned for the US Marine Raiders. Its best-known form is the M1942 reversible “frog skin”, worn by US Marines in the Pacific. That original fabric was reversible – one green, summer-style side and one brown, autumn-style side – and both were built from small, soft, leaf- and pebble-like blotches rather than stripes or pixels.
“Autumn” is the MegaCamo label for this rendition, and by eye it is the brown, dry side of the frogskin. A warm cream-tan field is broken up by mid-brown and khaki blotches with a few soft olive glints, giving it the muted look of dead leaves and bare ground. It is the earthiest of the duck-hunter colourways and the one that suits brown-dominant terrain.
How the pattern reads on your hoodie
Because the design is made of soft rounded blotches instead of fine stripes or dense dots, it spreads cleanly across the chest, down the sleeves and over the kangaroo pocket without turning to noise. The warm tones stay cohesive across a large print, and the smooth printed face keeps the edges crisp. It is a pattern that looks rich and subtle on a full-length garment like this.
Why own this fleece-lined hoodie?
The real draw is that this is traceable camouflage history printed on a surface that shows it off. A warm, comfortable hoodie whose exterior is genuinely interesting to look at is a different thing from a plain one, and a brown autumn frogskin is far from the digital-pixel and woodland camouflage that fills most streetwear. If you collect patterns, or just want something warm that no one else is wearing, this is it.
Comfort, fit and care
This fleece-lined hoodie is built for everyday wear. It is 100% polyester with a soft brushed fleece interior, an adjustable drawstring hood, long sleeves with ribbed cuffs and a roomy kangaroo pocket that carries a phone and keys. The fit is relaxed, so it layers easily over a T-shirt and still looks tidy under a heavier jacket.
Like every MegaCamo piece, this hoodie is made to order – printed and sewn only after you place your order, then shipped once fulfilment from our supplier is complete.
