Pattern: Rhodesian Brushstroke Arid
This is the brushstroke without the green. Arid strips the Rhodesian Brushstroke back to its desert side – sand, khaki and tan, with the same grass-like strokes drawn across a pale base. On a fleece-lined hoodie it reads as a sun-bleached, warm-around-the-edges pattern that feels lighter and more relaxed than the green versions, and it is a genuinely rare take on a well-known camouflage.
About the Rhodesian Brushstroke
The Rhodesian Brushstroke is the pattern worn by Rhodesian (today Zimbabwean) security forces from the mid-1960s to 1980. It is a brush-drawn camouflage built from short horizontal strokes over a solid base, which gives it a rough, painterly character collectors can pick out in an instant. The strokes are the constant of the family; the palette is what changes. Green-on-brown is the classic woodland reading, but the brushstroke was also produced in arid, desert palettes for dry terrain – and that is exactly what Arid nods to.
The Arid colorway: a desert brushstroke
Arid is the MegaCamo label for this rendition. Where the standard versions lean on olive green, this one keeps a pale sand and cream base and uses tan, light-brown and khaki shapes with fine strokes in the same warm tones. There is no green at all, so the whole print reads dusty and faded, like a pattern that has been living in the sun. It is a desert brushstroke in the truest sense of the phrase.
How the pattern reads on your hoodie
Because the palette is pale and warm rather than dark, the pattern reads gently and evenly across the chest, sleeves and kangaroo pocket without hiding the garment’s shape. The fine strokes still give it texture, and on the smooth printed face of this fleece-lined hoodie the tan-on-cream detail holds crisp. It is a lighter look than the green hoodies, ideal if you want something that is not black-or-forest-hero.
Why own this fleece-lined hoodie?
Honestly, the desert brushstroke is the rare one. Most people picture the green version; far fewer have seen the arid palette, which is exactly what makes it interesting on a hoodie. It is still a real, traceable camouflage worn by a real force, but it looks lighter, sunnier and less aggressive than the green takes, and it slips into a warmer or more casual wardrobe with ease.
Comfort, fit and build
This fleece-lined hoodie is built for everyday wear. It is 100% polyester with a soft brushed fleece interior, an adjustable drawstring hood, long sleeves with ribbed cuffs and a roomy front kangaroo pocket that holds a phone and keys. The fit is relaxed, so it layers easily over a T-shirt and still looks tidy under a heavier jacket.
