China Airborne ERDL Lightweight Hooded T-Shirt

Pattern: China Airborne ERDL — grey woodland

This is a grey-toned expression of the ERDL leaf family as it spread to China. ERDL — the US Engineer Research and Development Laboratory leaf pattern — was one of the most influential woodland camos of the 20th century, and national forces around the world built their own leafy disruptives on its logic. This is the Chinese Airborne take.

The Airborne ERDL colourway is an unusual grey rendition. The base is a mid grey, and over it sit lobate leaf shapes of light grey-white, blue-grey, dark charcoal and black. It keeps the ERDL organic leaf structure but runs the whole palette in cool greys, so it reads more like urban or winter woodland than a green jungle camo.

On a hooded shirt this sits as a cool, understated grey leaf camo. It is easy to wear and pairs with neutral layers. The leaf shapes keep it interesting, while the grey palette keeps it quiet and modern.

Why own it: a grey ERDL is a rare and striking variation on a globally important woody camo. It is a genuine Chinese airborne pattern and a clean, wearable piece that stands apart from the usual green ERDLs.

The garment. This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded T-shirt, printed all over with the pattern you see on the image. It is cut with long sleeves and a hood and fits as a regular, athletic top. The fabric is a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend, so it stretches with you, feels smooth against the skin and takes the all-over print cleanly. It is a lightweight piece — about 0.374 kg — and runs in sizes S to 3XL.

Fit and size. Because the sizes run S–3XL, pick the one closest to your usual top size; the stretch in the spandex gives a little forgiveness, but for a closer cut take a size down and for a looser, layer-over fit take a size up. The print is applied across the whole garment, so the pattern continues over the chest, arms and hood without a break.

Made to Order. Each shirt is printed and sewn after you place your order. Production and fulfilment take roughly 4 to 7 days before the item ships — that is the time to make and pack it, not the total delivery time, which then depends on transport once it leaves us. It is not sitting on a shelf, and that is what lets us offer patterns that would never be worth stocking.

Care. To protect the print, machine wash at or below 45°C, do not use bleach and avoid prolonged soaking. Launder on a normal cycle with like colours and don’t tumble dry hot. Cold, gentle washing is the best way to keep the colours bright.
