About the pattern

The Loreng Darah Mangalir (“flowing blood”) pattern was introduced in 1964 for the RPKAD (Indonesian Army Special Forces), intended as a copy of the British Denison brushstroke. A manufacturing error turned it into a vertical, vine-like stripe design, and that is the pattern’s defining feature. This v2 render keeps the same vertical flowing structure but in a warmer, more muted palette than the vivid green, red and purple of v1. It is the earthier sibling of the same pattern family.

The ground is a pale cream, and over it run soft, vertical vine-like stripes in an olive-green, a maroon or deep red-brown, and a mid-brown. The stripes are organic, variable in width and flowing, with the pale cream showing through between them. There are no sharp edges or pixels. The palette is warmer and more muted than v1, with the maroon and brown replacing the brighter purple and red, giving it a more natural, earthy feel. It still has the distinctive vertical flowing rhythm.

How it reads on the garment

Because the stripes run vertically and the palette is warm, this pattern prints with a flowing, organic rhythm that is more subdued than the vivid v1. On the body the olive, maroon and brown stripes give the garment a sense of motion and a natural, vine-like character, while the warm palette makes it easier to wear. It still stands clearly apart from standard woodlands, but in a more muted, earthy way. The pale cream ground blends well with the light hood lining and collar, keeping the neckline tidy.
