Pattern: India Border Security Force Fern DPM
A brown-dominant fern pattern worn by India’s Border Security Force — palm and fern fronds in muted brown and dusty rose.
About the pattern
Camopedia records that a variation of the standard Indian DPM pattern having a brown-dominant colourway is documented in use by the Border Security Force (BSF), and that the pattern was first documented in 1992. The BSF is a central paramilitary force of India responsible for guarding the country’s borders. This render is that BSF fern DPM — a soft, brown-dominant fern-and-palm pattern that is distinct from the greener standard Indian DPM. It is one of the more earthy, muted Indian camouflage patterns.
This BSF Fern DPM colourway
The base is a dusty brown-rose, a warm earthy tone, and over it sit fine palm and fern fronds in a darker brown and a lighter dusty-pink or tan. The fronds are finely feathered and organic, giving the pattern a soft, naturalistic look rather than the broad, blocky leaves of the standard DPM. The palette is warm and muted, dominated by the dusty brown and rose, with no strong black or bright green. It reads as a soft, earthy fern pattern.
How it reads on the garment
Because the fronds are fine and the palette is muted, this pattern prints with a soft, natural feel rather than a bold one. On the body the dusty brown-rose ground sits behind the darker and lighter fern fronds, giving the surface a delicate, leafy texture. It reads as a subtle, easy-going earth camo, and it is one of the softer patterns in the Indian DPM family. The warm ground blends well with the light hood lining and collar, keeping the neckline tidy.
Why own it
If you want a soft, earthy fern camouflage that is easy to wear, the BSF Fern DPM is a strong pick — its dusty brown-and-rose palette is muted and natural, pairing naturally with tan, khaki, denim, brown and olive. It carries the documented lineage of the Border Security Force, a real Indian paramilitary force, so it appeals to collectors of Indian and paramilitary camouflage. And the fine fern texture gives it a pleasant, organic character.

Each hooded tee is printed and sewn to order rather than stored in a warehouse, so the pattern is freshly applied for you. Production and fulfilment take about 4–7 days before your order is handed to shipping; courier delivery time then depends on your destination. Please double-check the size chart before ordering — because each item is made for you, returns are easier to avoid by choosing the right size up front. If a print runs slightly differently from what you see on screen, that is the nature of made-to-order garment printing.
Disclosure
This is a reproduction / military-inspired item, not an issued uniform, and the garment itself is a modern printed piece for everyday wear. The Border Security Force fern DPM naming and the 1992 documentation come from pattern history, but this is not official Indian issue equipment.
