Pattern: Australian DPNU — Royal Australian Navy disruptives (Light)
DPNU — the Disruptive Pattern Navy Uniform — is the Royal Australian Navy camouflage issued from 2008. It is the naval recolour of the Australian disruptives, made for shipboard and coastal work rather than woodland. This is the Light rendition of that pattern.
The Light DPNU colourway sits on a very pale grey-white base. The soft-rounded lobate shapes are filled with a light grey, a soft grey-green and a muted blue-grey, so the whole pattern is bright, pale and easy on the eye. It is the pale counterpart to the dark DPNU.
On a hooded tee this reads as a clean, light grey camo — almost neutral. It is bright and airy, and the pale greys and soft greens make it a subtle, modern-looking piece that pairs easily with casual wear.
Why own it: it is the light end of the real Royal Australian Navy disruptives. The pale, cool palette is genuinely different from most camos and makes for a clean, wearable top with a genuine naval provenance.
The garment. This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded T-shirt, printed all over with the pattern you see on the image. It is cut with long sleeves and a hood and fits as a regular, athletic top. The fabric is a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend, so it stretches with you, feels smooth against the skin and takes the all-over print cleanly. It is a lightweight piece — about 0.374 kg — and runs in sizes S to 3XL.
Fit and size. Because the sizes run S–3XL, pick the one closest to your usual top size; the stretch in the spandex gives a little forgiveness, but for a closer cut take a size down and for a looser, layer-over fit take a size up. The print is applied across the whole garment, so the pattern continues over the chest, arms and hood without a break.
Made to Order. Each shirt is printed and sewn after you place your order. Production and fulfilment take roughly 4 to 7 days before the item ships — that is the time to make and pack it, not the total delivery time, which then depends on transport once it leaves us. It is not sitting on a shelf, and that is what lets us offer patterns that would never be worth stocking.
Care. To protect the print, machine wash at or below 45°C, do not use bleach and avoid prolonged soaking. Launder on a normal cycle with like colours and don’t tumble dry hot. Cold, gentle washing is the best way to keep the colours bright.
