About the pattern

The Greek lizard is a brushstroke camouflage derived from the French tenue de leopard, adopted by Greece around the 1970s and used by the Hellenic Army. Camopedia notes a variety of colourways were produced at different times. This v3 render is a notably pale, low-contrast version of the design — the same long, horizontal brush strokes as the classic lizard, but with very soft, close-valued colours that give the pattern a washed, subtle appearance.

The ground is a light stone-yellow or pale khaki, and over it sit long, horizontal brushstroke shapes in a soft olive-green, a muted brown and a very soft grey-green. The strokes are feathered and organic, drawn long across the surface. The palette is deliberately low-contrast — pale khaki, soft olive, muted brown and grey-green — so the strokes blend gently rather than standing out. It reads as a soft, pale, understated lizard, almost faded or sun-washed.
