Pattern: Iraq Brushstroke DPM v7 — a pale olive-and-taupe brushstroke on cream
This is another rendition in the MegaCamo brushstroke DPM series, and it uses the classic disruptive brushstroke structure: broad, painterly, slightly ragged sweeps of colour rather than hard-edged blocks or pixels. Here the field is a pale cream, and the sweeps sit over it in olive-green and grey-brown taupe. The green and taupe washes break across the base in long, organic strokes, so the whole pattern reads soft and painterly rather than mechanical. The strokes vary in width, and where they overlap they create a subtle sense of depth, as if the paint was dragged across the surface in one pass.
MegaCamo labels it the Iraq Brushstroke DPM v7. “DPM” (Disruptive Pattern Material) names the brushstroke structure, and the Iraq association is used as a catalogue label rather than an official designation claim. The pale cream field with olive-and-taupe strokes is what sets this version apart — light, muted and understated next to a dark woodland DPM, it sits in the cooler, quieter end of the brushstroke range.
Printed all over, the pale palette keeps it quiet and easy to wear. The cream base reads almost neutral, so the olive and taupe brushstrokes add texture without shouting. Because the print wraps the hood, the chest and the long sleeves, the strokes flow continuously across the garment, which suits a soft, low-contrast pattern like this. It sits well with denim, khaki, olive and earthy kit, and works equally as an everyday piece or a light outdoor layer.
Why own it
The pale, low-contrast palette is the appeal: a brushstroke DPM that defines itself by suggestion rather than by bold colour. The olive-and-taupe strokes on cream stay muted and wearable, so it reads as a calm, slightly vintage camo rather than a loud military piece. For anyone who wants the structure and flavour of a brushstroke DPM in a quieter, lighter range, this v7 is a distinctive choice — soft, painterly and easy to carry in a casual wardrobe. It is also a useful companion piece to the stronger green or brown brushstrokes in the same series, if you like to compare how the same structure changes with palette. All-over printing keeps the brushwork moving and continuous.
