About the pattern

By the mid-1970s the Republic of Korea Marine Corps was looking to move on from the older duck-hunter spot design, so they fielded a new pattern that sources and troops nicknamed “leopard,” “jigsaw” or “puzzle”. The distinctive trait is the connected, interlocking geometry: irregular masses that fit together like a jigsaw puzzle and simultaneously echo the markings of a spotted cat. First shown at the 1975 Armed Forces Parade, it was replaced around 1977, giving the family a very short official service life. Reference material (Camopedia) additionally records limited use with ROK Navy SEAL units, which is the origin of the “Navy SEAL” naming on this line.

This v2 colorway

v2 pulls away from the all-green look and runs lighter and cooler. Pale cream and milky-ecru shapes carry the field, sitting next to a brighter, fresher olive and a soft grey-mauve secondary tone. Where v1 stays dense and woodland-tonal, v2 opens the palette up — there is more light space between the shapes, and the grey-violet accent gives it a slightly desaturated, dusty “arid” character that reads softer and more neutral. It is the colourway you reach for if an all-green camo feels too dark or too busy.

How it reads on the garment

Because the palette is lighter and the shapes are separated by more pale ground, v2 prints with a calmer, airier rhythm than the darker variants. On the body it still reads as a connected, mottled field, but the cream space between the olive and grey pieces keeps it from turning muddy, so it looks more like a soft-textured pattern than a dense woodland. The light-grey hood lining and collar sit seamlessly with the pale base, leaving a clean neckline.
